Description:
In 1653, the genuine Lottehaus was built. Goethe has been inspired here to write his "Werther" and the building became world famous by cultural means. In the Goethe-Year 1999 the whole building was refurbished and re-opened to the public as Goethe museum. The main objective was a subtle refurbishment that keeps the character of the building whilst being equipped with modern technology.
Until then, this was the first building in Germany being exclusively lit by fiberoptics.All the advantages as installation diametre, freedom of UV-/ IR-radiation, economy and creative freedom took effect here.
In the interior, light profiles were hidden behind the curtains and simulate a natural key light. On the exterior the front was lit from above with beamers hidden in the roof. In addition to that the glass display cases with selected works of Goethe wer lit wit hidden light profiles.
