Description:
The familiar ambience of the leisure facilities "Laguna" in Asslar is presented to the public in a new light. Within several modernizing circles during the past years, the light in the sauna areas was and will be arranged in a completely new way. To highlight the recreational mood within the new sauna design, a starlight ceiling with narrow focussing lenses was installed. The light beams reflect in the foggy atmosphere and and thus create an impression near to a concert stage.
A colour change rotating once in 15 minutes - which is the typical resting time - supplies an additional advantage to the visitor: there is no need to have look on the watch - the colours show the time passed.
Besides the illumination of the pathes towards the sauna rooms, the patio gets accentuated by a water feature. The water is lit from behind, paralelly to its way down, and thus turns into a curtain of light. No colour change irritates the interaction of light and water.
The advantages of fiber optic lighting could be demonstrated in a unique way, because the installation of light outcouplings directly in the water enable charming effects and reflections to occur.
The illumination of the pathes to the saunas was realized by fiber optic cables directly positioned through bores in stones at the wayside. By the hidden position of the light outcouplings, no technically looking device interferes with the quiet mood of the area.
In such a way, the resting house of the leisure facility communicates the mood of recreation and repose.
Light design with clear forms and attitude accentuates the tranquility of the place. The combination of traditional illumination purposes with enacting ambience just happens by small accents without overdoing. Regarding the installation, the spectator is initiated to have his own imaginations and aspects.
The change of "soft" interior illumination with the "cool" one at the outside posts an additional eye catcher. Two pillars form the gate towards the resting house, and looking through the midst of the two almost magical spheres, the environment appears in a different way.
Looking at the costs, the efficiency of this installation can be demonstrated. Using only four light sources of the BLP CDM 150W-type, the power consumption is only 0,6kWh. Three of the four light sources were installed inside installation boxes which could be adapted to the ambience by camouflage paintwork.
The installation took place under the supervision of the building department of the city itself.
The fiber optic lighting technology offers a very simple and cost-effective possibility to all municipalities to highlight public places and facilities.
