"Europaplatz" in Darmstadt, Germany

The "Europaplatz" was defined as the vital gateway to the western city. So, a water feature was designed, consisting of 24 fountains to shape the area 3-dimensionally. The fountains are each illuminated with fiber optics. Permanently changing hights of the fountains together with continuously changing colours submit an attractive view across the place. This ambience in an antipole to the hectics of the nearby railway station and invite the busy travellers to take a little time to relax
During the winter, the fountains are closed with polycarbonate lids. Nevertheless, these covers are illuminated by fiberoptics from below. Thus, a very impressive, warm view across the place is realized in spite of the frosty ambience.
You walk and even drive across the place. All fiber optic cables are buried safe beneath the surfaces and the functional elements are placed together with the water control devices to permit easy service access.
