Description:

Kevelaer is a well known place for pilgrimage in Germany. To be build up in the inner city, near to two churches, a water feature was realized to accentuate the sacral mood of the place. Within a square of 6 to 6 meters, three 8-ms-high stela made of polished granite, loom towards the sky. The square itself consists of polished granite, too. Strictly geometrically, 56 fountains spread across this square to be illuminated with a fiber optic lighting system bedea akzent. Sychronized colour changes emphasize the effective impression. Even the stela themselves are lit by 6 beamers, but only with white light, what makes them seem to be almost weightless.

The fountains are lit by 3 fiber optic cables at a time, which are fed by 1 light source each. This redundant set-up guarantees a constant illumination even, if 1 light source fails.

All fiber optic cables are buried safely beneath the granite tiles. The light sources are integrated within the water control devices to permit easy maintenance access.
